Eliana Elisabeth – Gone to Heaven September 1, 2005

She’ll never have to be afraid;

She’ll never have to sorrow;

She’ll never have to lose a friend;

She’ll never dread tomorrow.

She’ll never use the words “good-bye”,

She’ll never know a fear;

She’ll never have to grope or sigh;

She’ll never have a tear.

Her playground will be paradise –

The River of Life her pool;

Her food the fruit of Heaven;

A street of gold, her school.

Don’t worry, Mom, about her hair,

The angels will fix her curls;

And if her hair is straight and long

They’ll plait it with braids and pearls.

Don’t worry, Dad, about her friends,

There’s other little darlings there

To play and laugh and run with her

In their home so gay and fair.

I’m not quite sure how young’uns grow

In that land beyond the blue,

But if I could wish one thing below,

This is what I’d wish t’come true.

When I stand before my king someday

To receive my life’s reward;

When He judges my life’s works and deeds

For commands obeyed – ignored;

I’d like to hear His dear lips say

After I’ve thanked Him for His grace;

“My son, there’s one more thing for you –

She’s been waiting to see your face.”

And then, if I could have my way,

A little girl I’d see;

She’d slip her little hand in mine

And gently whisper, “Daddy.”
