LAST HURRAH – FOR NOW…

In a couple of days we will be packing boxes into our vehicle for one last city before beginning a few months rest from book of John/Romans distribution.  In April I will be in Africa.  In May, Turkey.  In June, the USA with family in tow.

It has been almost six years since the Holy Spirit moved me to preach a sermon on a Sunday night about getting the gospel to all of Bulgaria and not just our city.  We had no books of John/Romans.  We had no money in the bank.  We had 30 people in church that night.

But God often uses the weak to show His strength.  He has provided us 1.3 million books of John/Romans so far.  We have hand-delivered over 1 million of them.  We have spent over $120,000 in the last 5 1/2 years on fuel, hotels, and tracts for the books of John/Romans.

This will be our 47th city out of the top 100 most-populated Bulgarian cities.  I will have my five oldest boys with me and a missionary friend and his two boys.  It will be a new adventure in a life of adventures.

Will it be worth it?  Well, is spreading the truth of salvation and redemption worth it?  It is not really a question.  We will never have the results that we want as humans, but it is always worth it because He is worth it.

We average walking over 10 miles every day.  The $70 no-name hiking boots I bought at Bass and Pro Shop four years ago the last time we were in the States have logged well over 1,000 miles.  I love those boots.  Gonna miss ’em when they’re gone…

Life is a series of changes.  There are constants.  But there are always changes.  I don’t know how many more years we have of this ministry.  I do know that it has been the joy of our time on the mission field.  So I’m pumped about next week.

I’ll throw some a couple of changes of clothes in my leather Wilson bag that I bought 15 years ago at Walmart.  I love that bag.  I’ll throw in some books.  Not a toothbrush though.  I buy a new kid’s toothbrush in every city and then gift it to one of the little ones when I get home.  Then Monday morning we will hit the road again.
